Who

With the City of Half Moon Bay's leadership and the support of San Mateo County and the Center for Age-Friendly Excellence, Half Moon Bay and the Coastside from Montana to Pescadero became the eighth County community to receive the World Health Organization (WHO)/AARP Age Friendly designation in April 2022.

What

In order to become an Age Friendly Community, the City and its partners made a multi-year commitment to listen to the needs of older adults, assess and monitor age-friendliness and work collaboratively with older adults and across sectors to create accessible physical environments, inclusive social environments, and an enabling service infrastructure.

Why

Becoming an Age Friendly community provides the Coastside with the tools to meet the needs of the growing population of older adults living on the Coastside. AARP research shows addressing the needs of older adults through well-designed, age-friendly communities fosters economic growth and makes for happier, healthier residents of ages.
